As I promised we will continue and I am sure you would have read the Seo Training Series (Part 1) and (Part 2), and created a list of winning keyword for your website which are specifically focused around your business, target audience and competition.

After your list of keywords are finally ready. In this series we will cover all the possible places where we can place our keyword on the page that we need to optimize. This is called On-page-optimization.

Below is the step-by-step general listing of where you can place your keywords.

Domain Name: We can use the keyword in the domain name. If you are looking for new domain, see to it that you try to get keyword specific domain name. But if you have an existing domain without any keyword in it, you can set a sub-domain with the keywords. For eg. My website www.opencomputinginstitute.com does not contain any seo training Mumbai keyword. So if I want target a city centric keyword Mumbai, I could setup a sub-domain like opencomputinginstitute.com/seo-training-mumbai or mumbai.opencomputinginstitute.com as a city centric keyword.

Meta Tag: Meta tag is very important as it may contain information about what the page is about (keywords and description). Many search engine use this information when indexing pages. Title and Description of any webpage is very important. Make sure that the Title and Description you add is specific which reads well and is catchy.
Description: Its very important to add a meta description to each and every page of your website, try to add keyword somewhere in between the description. Meta description is what frequently shows up under your page title in search results and convinces people to click-through to your site if they got the required details in that 2 lines. Meta Description written should not exceed 200 characters i.e. 20 words maximum.
Keywords: Keywords added on the webpage should be specific related to that page. Though Google does not seem to place high relevance on meta keywords to determine the content of a website, other engines like Yahoo! may still look at these.

Since it doesn't hurt you to have meta keywords, we'd suggest going ahead and adding them to the page.

Headlines: Headlines are H1 and H2 tags of your webpage. Similar to how newspapers and magazines use headings and sub-headings to help readers, websites can use special tags in their HTML such as H1, H2,…H6. These tags not only help human readers read the content, they also help search engine spiders better understand the content on a page and what is most important. It is generally a good idea to use heading tags to help signal to the search engines, what the web page is about. Reading only the heading tags sometimes gives the overall details of what the site or article is about.

Body Text or Content: Use keywords in your webpage body content. Possibly start your content with your keyword, or try to add keyword phrase in first 2 lines of your text content.

Also keep on checking what your competitor is doing and where he is placing the keywords and in which meta tags and at what position which is very important.

So to get success on keyword in this competitive web world is to place a right keyword at right place with accurate content.
